”Falling in love is such an easy thing to do.”
It all started with a pact. A promise between four friends that Junior year would be the year they fell in love. Hushed whispers shared in the hall detailed their future wedding plans, giggles at sleepovers spoke of plans to attend the same college. And they kept their pact, every one of them fell in love before the end of the year. But there was one little problem no one saw coming.
”That little pink plus sign is so unholy.”
One of the Juniors found out over the summer that she was pregnant. In the minds of the other three small-town teenagers it was time for a new pact. They vowed they would all get pregnant with her and that they would all help raise each others babies. So the plan was put into action in various methods and before anyone could blink all four of the girls was pregnant. They were so happy to be sharing something so precious together. And they just knew the father’s of their children would be just as happy. Or so they thought..
”All he could think about was I’m too young for this.”
The reaction of the guys was not what the girls had expected. They had this fantasy that their boyfriends would become good, providing fathers. That they would be overjoyed to have children with the girls they loved. But none of them were happy at all. In fact, in true teenage fashion, they refused to help the girls out at all. Saying they weren’t going to be tricked into raising a kid for a booty call. They weren’t planning on spending the rest of their lives with the girls.
”I used to be love drunk now I’m hungover.”
The boys had only seen them as girlfriends for the moment. They hadn’t been thinking past this year. And so those girls were left to raise the kids on their own. It has been nearly six years since the pregnancy pact of the Juniors. Kids have become increasingly promiscuous. Some of them go on their way with no problems. But others…well their lives have just ended.
”Well she's been told about sins now but it feels fine.”
With the increase in teen pregnancies Dade County, Georgia is left wondering where they had failed. Some question if a new pregnancy pact has started or if kids are just losing control. Parents boast that their daughter would never have sex before marriage, until she comes to them holding a pregnancy test. The school system is questioning their methods of preaching abstinence. In a small town in the middle of the Bible belt it’s never been given a second thought about teaching something otherwise thought a sin…until now.
”Papa don’t preach, I’m keeping my baby.”
In a town where there is a church on every corner, a bible in every nightstand, and a teacher preaching abstinence without any other options things are beginning to change. Where do you stand in all of this, and what would you do when things got a little to hot and heavy?
